Donald Trump is A Deliberate Flip Flopper On Abortion Again- Don't Get Conned
If you are tempted to believe Donald Trump is turning his back on his anti abortion stance & is even supporting IVF, don't be fooled. Here's proof he's not.
Donald Trump is using the oldest con man’s trick in the books - he’s saying one thing, then the opposite, so listeners get confused and aren’t sure what to believe.
Just witness Trump’s flip flopping responses last week to whether he would vote for ,or against, Florida’s ballot Amendment 4 to enshrine the right to an abortion into the state’s constitution.
It was classic Trumpian obscurement by the Florida resident and voter.
Thursday: ““I think the six week is too short. It has to be more time. I told them that I want more weeks.”… “I am going to be voting that we need more than six weeks.” FLIP.
This first statement had many members of the press all aflutter breathlessly writing that Trump had moderated his stance on abortion. But the next day …
Friday: under pressure from his anti abortion allies Trump clarified to FOX News that, “I’ll be voting no,” on Florida’s Amendment 4.
In other words, he’ll be supporting Florida’s extreme six -week ban. FLOP
Now, just so you know what Trump won’t be voting to support.
Florida’s Amendment to Limit Government Interference With Abortion actually says:
“No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.
Meanwhile the current Heartbeat Protection Act in Florida passed by the Republican -dominated state legislature and signed by Gov Ron DeSantis in 2023 bars abortions after 6 weeks except in cases of rape, incest, human trafficking, fatal fetal anomalies or risk of life to the mother.
In practice though, trying to get an abortion in Florida unless a woman is on death’s door, is extremely difficult, say several doctors, who explain that the law has ignored all kinds of medical conditions that endanger a pregnant woman’s health and life.
Then, let’s take a look at what JD Vance- Trump’s VP pick has been up to. Do not be fooled by America’s enemy #1 of ‘childless cat ladies” and his busy work trying to convince voters that he and Trump are actually moderates on reproductive freedom and not the extremist anti abortionists they really are.
Let me point out the truth that Trump once again, couldn’t have picked a more anti abortion VP - just like he did in 2016 by selecting ardent pro lifer Mike Pence, who staffed the White House with scores of anti abortionists in key administrative positions.
JD has described himself as “100% pro life” and has opposed exceptions to abortion bans even for rape and incest victims. He has said that he wants to protect life “from the date of conception. That means, from the moment than an egg is fertilized by a sperm,
It’s no wonder the Ohio Senator has voted against protecting IVF, which can occasionally result in the destruction of embryos.
Vance also signed a letter in 2023 asking the Justice Department to enforce the 1873 Comstock Act, which would prohibit all abortion medications and surgical equipment and supplies used in abortion, from crossing state lines - effectively halting all abortions nationwide without even requiring any Congressional action.
That means, he supports a ‘backdoor’ nationwide abortion ban.
Enforcing the Comstock Act to prevent abortions is one of the key plans in Project 2025, the mandate for Donald Trump to govern if elected in Nov.
Now, JD has spent the past week doing TV interviews where he has carefully chosen his words about a national abortion ban, again to confuse listeners about where he and Donald Trump stand on abortion.
The VP- wannabe appeared on Aug 24th’s Meet The Press where he said: “ No Republican, at least no Republican with any reasonable power is saying that we should have a ‘complete’ national abortion ban…”
Ok - but here’s the wiggle room - his words, “complete national abortion ban.”
JD, who supports no exceptions for rape or incest and believes that life begins at conception can easily also say that any national abortion ban that Trump might sign as president isn’t complete if it includes exceptions for anything and/or begins at 6 weeks or any time after conception.
He also knows full well that Trump doesn’t need to sign anything if he just follows his Project 2025 playbook and enforces the Comstock Act and also has his Food and Drug Administration chief withdraw both abortion pills plus any contraceptives that he deems are ‘abortifacients’, like the IUD, the morning after pill or even the birth control pill.
Anti abortion extremists like JD Vance believe that several popular methods of contraception despite evidence, work by preventing fertilized eggs from implanting in the uterus and therefore are types of abortion or abortifacients.
And remember that JD Vance is SOOOO familiar with Trump’s authoritarian Christian Nationalist Project 2025, that he wrote the foreward to an upcoming book, titled Dawn’s Early Light, by Heritage Foundation president Kevin D. Roberts. The Heritage Foundation and Roberts oversaw the compilation of Project 2025!
So neither Trump or Vance’s repeated denials that he won’t sign a national abortion ban, are hogwash and just meant to confuse you, and members of the press, allowing them to believe and write that the Republican presidential ticket has somehow ‘moderated ‘ its position on abortion.
But neither Trump nor Vance has, They can’t risk losing any of their support from their base of Evangelical, Christian Nationalist and Catholic voters. They are just trying to mess with voters minds, because abortion is becoming a top election issue for women in the country, as it should.
After all, our lives and the lives of our daughters and granddaughters are on the line!
And both Trump and Vance are trying to convince some voters who might waver in support for Kamala Harris if they can give themselves the excuse that Trump won’t really be soo bad for reproductive rights after all.
As if!
Then. let’s take a look at Trump’s very weird sudden embrace of IVF - something which Republican senators, including Vance, refused to protect with a Senate vote just weeks ago.
“I was always for IVF. Right from the beginning, as soon as we heard about it,” the Trump blurted out in an interview with NBC News in Michigan, adding that he’d support public funding for IVF. Or he would require insurance companies to cover it.
Really? If you are going to believe that , then I’ve got some beachfront property in North Korea to sell you.
This is coming from the man who lied 30,573 times over his four years as president. Plus, he just threw out 30 major lies during his debate with Joe Biden.
Trump is a bold - faced non stop liar!
Not only that, the Republican platform at the party’s July convention in Milwaukee, which nominated Trump for president included language supporting the 14th Amendment’s use in the states so that ‘ no person that be denied Life or Liberty.”
Well, that language is a wink wink, hidden-in-plain sight signal to Republicans who understand that they are protecting the rights of a fetus to ‘personhood’ by invoking the 14th Amendment. Explicitly inserted in the Republican’s 2016 platform is 14th Amendment legal protection for ‘the unborn’ which includes eggs fertilized at conception.
So extra, extra, legal personhood for fertilized eggs means - NO LEGAL IVF - no matter what blather Trump is putting out there.
And remember that Trump is also vowing to end the Affordable Care Act again and cut back on Medicaid - both outlined in Project 2025 - so exactly how is his government going to pay for IVF?
After all we are still waiting for his ‘much better & much cheaper’ plan for healthcare coverage as the alternative to the ACA ever since his Republican Congress almost repealed it in 2017.
Yup - we’re still waiting.
So are you really going to fall for Trump’s new lies that he’ll support and pay for IVF and his back and forth contradictory answers about supporting states rights and not ending abortion nationally?
Have you forgotten that this is the guy who appointed the 3 Federalist Society-recommended judges to the Supreme Court which walked away from 50 years of precedent and overturned Roe v Wade, resulting in 22 states banning abortion!
And this is the guy who appointed 234 ultra right wing Federalist Society- recommended judges including Judge Aileen Cannon who just threw out the case against Trump for taking government-owned documents out of the White House and then obstructing their return.
He also appointed the notoriously anti abortion Texas judge, Matthew Kascmaryk, who suspended the approval of mifepristone, the abortion drug that had been FDA approved for more than 20 years.
So even if you are inclined to believe that Trump is truly going to somehow be more ‘moderate’ on abortion and won’t enforce any front door or back door abortion ban, you have to still bet that he will go gung ho appointing abortion -hating judges to the Supreme Court and every federal bench that becomes available if he is president again.
If you care about keeping your reproductive freedom and making decisions with your own doctor and family about when and how many children to have. If you want top medical care for pregnancy complications, miscarriages and fatal fetal anomalies - with all the choices for top treatment available to you…
Then do NOT get conned by the biggest con artist ever to be elected to the highest office in the land.
