Thank you for this essay and shining a light on the trad wife subculture, which I was unaware of. When I read this I thought of my sister and grandfather. My younger sister wanted to attend law school, and askedy grandfather, an accomplished NYC trial lawyer, for help, and he responded "women shouldn't be lawyers, they don't belong in a courthouse". Astonishing, but true. In spite of him, she attended, graduated and became an accomplished family lawyer in the bay area. We need to protect our moms, sisters, wives and daughters rights.

Good for your sister. I m not surprised though. My mother wanted to go to university and my grandfather refused to let her go. He said the same thing a syour grandfather - that university wasn't for girls, so he only sent her two brothers. At that time, her only career choices were : teacher, nurse or secretary. She became a teacher and then was forced to quit when she got pregnant with me since teachers weren't allowed to 'show'. My dad was still in law school so he had to drive a taxi whenever he could to support them. My mom finally got her wish and started to take colllege classes after they could afford babysitters for their three kids. And yes, the insidious' trad wife" is a well thought out and funded initiative designed to prey on young women searching for direction in their lives. A new right wing 'cult'.
